2012 Youth Turkey Challenge - NWTF Tallahassee

March 10, 2012 - Beau Turner Youth Conservation Center

Beau Turner Youth Conservation Center (BTYCC) and the Apalachee Longbeards are teaming up to host the first Youth Turkey Hunting Challenge. This challenge will take place on Saturday, March 10th of the Florida Youth Turkey Hunting Season. All funds raised from this challenge will go to the BTYCC for future youth programs and to the Apalachee Longbeard Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation for future conservation programs and projects.

Hunts can take place on public or private property. Our meeting place and Challenge Headquarters will be the Beau Turner Youth Conservation Center at 9194 South Jefferson Hwy, Lamont, FL 32344.

From I-10, exit US 19 (Exit 225) in Jefferson County, go south for 4.2 miles.
The center is on your right
From US 27, turn north onto US 19 in Jefferson County and go approximately 1/3 of a mile; look for the center on your left.

Registration fee $50
There is a $50 registration fee for all hunter/guardian teams.
*The youth hunter must be 15 years old or younger to participate in the Florida Youth Turkey Season.

Friday Night (March 9th)
All particapants must attend dinner at the Beau Turner Youth Conservation Center on Friday, March 9th. We will have a social hour at 6:00 PM and dinner will be served at 7:00 PM. The Youth Turkey Challenge Rules and Regulations will be discussed as well as the schedule for Saturday.

Saturday (March 10th)
All birds must be checked in by Noon (12:00 PM EST) on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Beau Turner Youth Conservation Center to count towards any prizes. Lunch will be provided, and the awards and prizes will be given out following lunch.

All birds will be officially scored and prizes will be awarded accordingly. No hunter can place in more than one category. (For example: If you harvest a turkey that has the longest beard and spurs, you would only win a prize for one of those categories)

Awards:
Overall score: First, Second and Third place
Largest bird: First, Second and Third place
Longest beard: First, Second and Third place
Longest combined spur length: First, Second and Third place

Parent and son/daugther turkey hunt at Vermejo Park Ranch (does not include airfare)

Rangefinders
